My name is Marek Bogdański. I was born in Łódź on November 22, 1982. I am a music producer, composer, DJ, remixer, and the founder of Superfly Studio recording studio and Tropicadelic Records label. For over 25 years, I’ve been involved in music production, mixing, and mastering. At 16, I began composing my first tracks using Fast Tracker II. Later, I switched to Fruity Loops, and in 2004, while working on my debut album, I started using Cubase — which I still use today.
I started my musical journey over 34 years ago, at just 8 years old — together with my friend Jarek Zaręba, we formed our first music group. It had no name, but apparently some recordings are still circulating online. We sang and played on Jarek’s piano and kitchen pots, driving his mother crazy.
At the age of 12, I joined the brass orchestra at Primary School No. 182 in Łódź, and later the Polish Post’s Representative Brass Band, where I played percussion instruments.
In 1999–2000, I founded my first hip‑hop crew, called Kooperacja, together with Wojtas (Tezet), Adam (Lasot), Michał (Frans), and Agnieszka (FQB). We recorded an EP with four tracks, still available online: “Szwadron”, “100 % Siebie”, “Całkiem Nowy Styl”, “Kim Dla Hip‑Hopu?”, and “Szwadron (Trip Hop Remix)”.

In 2001, the Dreadsquad project was founded. The name dates back over 25 years and ties into my former activity — making dreadlocks. People in Łódź from that time may remember the iconic stickers saying: “Want dreadlocks? We can help.” The project quickly gained local fame, mainly thanks to numerous events in clubs like Forum Fabricum (later Cube, Blue, Jazzga, Bagdad Café, DOM, and P28), which drew great crowds.
In 2002, DJ Funksion (Łukasz Rodziewicz) joined the crew. Together, we recorded four mixtapes: Na Dobry Początek (2003), Raggamafia (2004), WySoca Temperatura (2004), and Back in Town (2007) — which fueled many house parties.
Łódź quickly became too small. We moved on with ambition and consistency. In 2003 and 2004, we won first place at the national Soundclash, beating the competition. We also performed across Europe — in the Netherlands, England, Scotland, Germany, Austria, Portugal, Lithuania, Czech Republic, and Slovakia.

In 2005, I released my first producer album — Dread za Dreadem (Wielkie Joł). It was a compilation of my best productions from five years, re-recorded in Warsaw’s Wielkie Joł studio, featuring top Polish vocalists and international guests: Natural Dread Killaz, Ras Luta, Tede, Numer Raz, Pablopavo, Mista Pita, Banda Tre, Sidney Polak, Mercedes, Fu, Reggaenerator, Globus, Deer, Smokin Bway, Papastyl & Baldas, Tony Jr Big.
The album was not only a musical journey through genres like reggae, dub, dancehall, soca, reggaeton, and hip‑hop — it also symbolized the growing influence of Caribbean music in Poland. Thanks to extensive collaborations, “Dread za Dreadem” became a landmark for fans of Caribbean-style music.
In 2008, I began collaborating with Kacezet (Piotr Kozieradzki), which resulted in the album Stara Szkoła (2009). Rooted in reggae, raggamuffin, ska, and dub, it featured playful and humorous lyrics, nods to classic Jamaican riddims, analog tape echo, spring reverb, Casio MT‑41 old‑school sounds, and Commodore 64-style tones.
Despite its retro inspirations and unique instrumentation, the music was presented in a modern context — reflecting evolving technology. It was my biggest solo project, as I managed everything: production, instrumental and vocal recordings, mixing, mastering, and CD release under my new Superfly Studio label.

In 2012, my third producer album as Dreadsquad was released — The Riddim Machine. The record was available on CD in an eco-friendly digipack, in digital format (mp3/wav), and as a 12″ vinyl.
The album contains 16 tracks in the styles of reggae, ska, rocksteady, digital, dancehall, and dubstep, recorded with artists from Jamaica, the United Kingdom, Germany, and the USA. There were also Polish accents — including a track with Kasia Malenda, a dubstep remix by Radikal Guru, and a reggae version of the classic by Mieczysław Fogg, “To ostatnia niedziela” (This is the Last Sunday).
For two years, I worked intensively with the top of the world reggae scene, including U Brown, Perfect Giddimani, Ward 21, Skarra Mucci, Dr Ring Ding, and Jahdan Blakkmore. My productions were released not only on Superfly Studio but also on foreign labels such as Germaica, African Beat, and Cast-a-Blast. Thanks to this, Dreadsquad, alongside Radikal Guru, became one of the most recognizable Polish projects on the global reggae scene.

After hundreds of performances in Poland, European tours began, and today Dreadsquad has performed in Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, the USA, Canada, Brazil, India, and Japan. Reggae, dancehall, ska, rocksteady, and hip-hop constantly flow through DREADSQUAD’s productions and performances. I freely blend genres, playing with sounds based on deep bass tones and broken rhythms. Jamaican music is often combined with modern sounds like Breakbeat, Jungle, Dubstep, and Garage.
My music mainly serves for fun and dancing; sometimes it’s energetic and lively, and other times slow and meditative. It’s my passion, hobby, and way of life — you can hear and see that.
Many of the vinyl singles, EPs, and albums I’ve released have reached top sales positions in the best DJ shops across Europe. Mashups of my productions have become a staple in the crates of genre pioneers such as J Star, Upstate Rockers, Mr Blennd, and even Daddy G from Massive Attack.
